MOE at the 2007 FIRST Finger Lakes Regional
Rochester Institute of Technology
 |
This year, MOE attended the Finger Lakes Regional at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in upstate New York. The regional was very spirited, and all of the teams competed in a gracious and professional manner. |
 |
Wednesday, Day One: The Trip to RochesterWe loaded the Krapf's coach bus with out luggage, practice robot, the team, and all of the tools needed for the competition. After a head count, our driver, Tony, drove all of us to Rochester. At the Best Western hotel, the Pit Lord met with his underlings concerning unpacking the pit for the following day, while the rest of the team settled themselves in their rooms. |
Thursday, Day Two: Practice!
Our pit was unpacked and decorated, and MOEzilla was able to
play ten out of ten practice practice matches. Also, our robot was still in
fighting condition for the first elimination day! That night, we had a team
meeting in which a vote was taken in order to decide whether or not to remove
our ramps. Finally, it was decided to remove the ramps that previously adorned
MOEzilla. |
 |
 |
Friday, Day Three: Elimination MatchesWithout our ramps, MOEzilla was much lighter then any other robot that MOE has ever competed with. We performed well, thanks both to our masterful competition team and our alliance members, with only one loss in the elimination matches! Our autonomous program worked with incredible accuracy, and our gripper was very successful. We were seeded first, and invited the X-Cats (191) and the rookie Cougar Techs (2228) to be on our alliance. Afterwards, most of the teams went to the team social hosted by RIT. We had our laughs and it was a lot of fun, with pizza and hamburgers for dinner, a comedian, and karaoke. |
Saturday, Day Four: Finals and
Awards
Although we were first seed going into the finals, we were
sadly upset by the eighth seeded alliance team. Nevertheless, MOE, the
X-Cats (191), and the
Cougar Techs (2228) remained spirited, cheering on our fellow FIRST teams.
MOE gave out many awards to the other FIRST teams, and also received awards from
other teams. From FIRST, we had the honor of receiving the Motorola Quality
Award. After the awards, it was time to say good-bye. We loaded the bus once
again, and headed back south.
We as a team would like to give a special thanks to our bus driver, Tony, who
provided us with transportation over the competition weekend. |
 |
Just for FunOur team is very spirited and has a great sense of humor. We dance, dress up, cheer, and have the best time possible at every event we attend.
